Before every wedding, Ross spends hours compiling pages of creative pictures inspired from collaborating with our current "bride-to-be". When Ross and I were discussing Katie and Tyler's pictures before their wedding, we both felt that Katie's great personality and bright blond hair reminded us of ladies from the past who possessed timeless glamour- particularly Marilyn Monroe. We showed up armed with lots of pictures from the 1950's and 60's and got plenty of chances to try them out since Katie and her girls all had little parasols and a fellow family member let us borrow his 1960's red corvette. Sweet!
But let's back track to the beginning of the day. :) When Ross, Jeff, and I arrived at Katie's hotel, Tyler's mother took us aside and whispered that a present from Tyler would be arriving and could we be ready for pictures? I (Melissa) had a blast capturing Katie's every move as she opened a gorgeous right-hand-ring from Tyler. She is so funny! First she frowned because she couldn't believe it, then she started smiling and showing it off, but then she paused and said, "Wait! Whose bank account did this come from?"
Although their wedding was indoors at the Yakima Convention Center, Katie and Tyler wanted some outdoor pictures as well. We went to Track 29 Mall in Yakima to get some pictures with the train cars, and then to Terrace Heights Memorial Park to get lots of pictures with green grass and trees. Normally, the drive between portrait locations is pretty uneventful, but this wasn't the case on Katie's wedding day since they provided a large, air conditioned tour bus to escort them and their bridal party to the different portrait locations! This was a great idea since it was in the upper 90's that day.
Everything went by without a hitch: the ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was joyous. I (Melissa) thought that Katie's Dad's toast was the sweetest thing ever. He was able to say in words what I think most dad's try to say, but have a hard time doing in front of hundreds of people. He went on and on about all of Katie's best qualities, and told her all of the things he loved about her. It was so cute!
Thank you Katie and Tyler for involving us in your wedding day! We had tons of fun and know that you guys will have many, many happy years together. And thanks for the air conditioned bus! :)
