Sean & Marcie: Engagement pictures

Sean and Marcie are a delightful couple from the west side of Washington state who are getting married in Mexico this month. Although they're having an adventurous destination wedding, they still wanted to capture the memories they have from going to CWU and enjoying Eastern WA. So to commemorate the days when they first met in college, we chose to take pictures at Cave B winery and the surrounding area. While at Cave B, we took advantage of the contrasting desert terrain and the gorgeous orchard trees in full bloom. At one point, Marcie pointed out a rusted, old wheel and wondered if it would make a good prop for pictures. I (Melissa) held the giant wheel in place as they did their best to share a romantic moment. (Marcie was propped up rather precariously on the wheel the whole time). Brave couple! The resulting pictures were worth it! We ended the night down by the Columbia River, in the middle of the Gorge. Sean and Marcie: we wish you guys the best of luck and have a BLAST in Mexico!!!!

I (Melissa) snapped a shot of what Ross looked like (below) as he captured this moment between Sean and Marcie. He asked me to help hold him up, but I only made it worse. So I stepped back and decided to take his picture instead. :)

Favorite Eastern WA location: Cave B Winery at the Gorge

CAVE B WINERY- The Gorge

Cave B is one of our favorite wedding locations in Eastern WA. If you're looking for a zen-like wedding location with rustic vines and a post-modern style, then it may be worth while to check out Cave B Winery near Quincy, WA. In case you aren't familiar with Cave B, it is a winery, Inn, resort, and wedding venue located in the middle of the Columbia Gorge area. The entire winery and estate overlooks the Gorge's sleek, granite cliffs and the sparkling water of the Columbia River.

But don't let all of those vines and blue water fool you- this winery is in the desert, complete with gray sagebrush and cream colored sand. Cave B's atmosphere is a unique combination of lush, green vines and a dry, desert environment. The result is a very contemporary, relaxed experience. While at Cave B, one gets a sense of peace and room to breathe. The colors of the landscape and Cave B buildings consist of gray, black, brown, sage green, and blue tones. Common elements used include stone, granite, and brushed metal.

The best wedding themes for this area would be those with a minimalistic feel, and anything that looks and feels simple and natural would be ideal.

As you can see from all of the pictures, there are tons of great photo spots all around Cave B. And better yet, every season has something different to offer. Because of the great weather around the Gorge, a beautiful fall wedding is very possible here.

Kristin & Jared: Cave B Wedding

Kristin & Jared's late August wedding was the perfect season for an outdoor event at Cave B winery. We started the day with getting ready shots of Jared and his guys preparing for the day in one of Cave B's Cliffehouses, overlooking the Gorge. And by "preparing for the day" we mean a few shots of them getting into their tuxes, but mostly shots of the guys laughing, joking, toasting, and hanging out with Jared's dog, Trace. Next, we headed to Kristin's Cliffehouse to catch up on her getting ready moments. Of course there was laughing and joking on the girls' side, but moments of seriousness and emotion as Kristin put on her dress, adjusted her veil, and got ready to see Jared for the first time.

The next few hours were full of pictures of the couple, their bridal party, and their families.

Up next: the ceremony. Kristin's entry to the ceremony was unforgettable! As the crowd waited in anticipation, Kristin and her dad drove up in his logging truck. It was awesome!

We followed the happy couple around throughout their reception as they listened to toasts, ate some cake, and enjoyed their first dance. Throughout the whole day, there was a mood of happiness and love, and we know Kristin and Jared will enjoy a lifetime of joy together. Congrats!

Dennis & Christine: Cave B Wedding

Christine & Dennis had a gorgeous fall wedding in early October at Cave B in Quincy, WA. They are a hilarious, laid back couple so we did everything we could to keep the "portrait mood" light and relaxed. We started the day at Mango's Salon where Christine and her maid of honor, Dawn, were getting ready. Next, they were all transported to Cave B in an impressive Hummer Limo. The whole day went off without a hitch, and Dennis and Christine's happiness was contagious. In Christine's own works, "We truly enjoyed working with you because you made the day easy and fun. Thanks again for everything!!!" And we say the same thing to you: you were both amazing to work with as well! Your giddy joy and flexible attitude translated into great pictures. We wish you both the best of luck in your life together.
